Time to start the Recycle Rally!!
What is the PepsiCo’s Recycle Rally?
The Recycle Rally is a free nationwide program that directly benefits K-12 schools and students by providing valuable incentives and resources to help make recycling easy, fun, and rewarding. Whether your school has been recycling for years or are just getting started, the Recycle Rally will help boost the excitement and provide all kinds of tools to make recycling a big deal in your kid’s school.
What a great program to start the new school year off with. For anyone who wants to provide more education on recycling for kids as well as how to implement a recycling program in your school, this PepsiCo Recycle Rally is the way to go!
Now it is time to bring the Recycle Rally home! We have recycled for years but haven’t really gotten the kids involved in the process until just recently. Jude asked us why we recycle things a few months ago so we had a great time educating both him and Teagan on why recycling is so important for everyone to do.
As I think about the amount of trash that we see on the side of the road, on trails, in parking lots, etc, I know that the education of recycling MUST continue with our young people. Every age needs to be involved in this movement and we must all start thinking about the future, what will our dear earth look like in 10, 20, 30, 40 years?
To get the kids even more excited about recycling I decided to use some of the inspiration I found on the Recycle Rally website and create a fun game out of our plastic bottle recycling bin. This easy DIY Recycle Bin Target Game has been a hit in our house and both kids fight over who gets to recycle the plastic bottles!
DIY Recycling Bin Target Game
Materials Needed:
Large plastic trash bin with lid
Permanent paint markers
Directions:
1. Remove lid from bin and decide how big your target will be.
2. Start drawing your target on the inside of the lid of the trash bin.
3. Color in target with multiple colors for more fun!
4. Let paint markers dry completely.
5. Secure lid on trash bin.
6. Have your kids play the target game with any empty and cleaned out plastic bottles.
Since we do not have a large kitchen space we keep our recycling outside, either in the garage or on the deck. When we have a plastic bottle ready for recycling the kids head outside for some fun! Love it! I hope that their excitement continues for years.
Other ways we can be environmentally healthy is by using reusable items such as lunchboxes and water bottles. We have implemented these items in our daily use as well. This helps us limit the number of plastic items we have to worry about recycling.
We believe it is important to encourage our kids to recycle and learn how to reuse items as well. The kids are the future and we need to make sure they are educated in recycling so they can have a nice environment to live in. PepsiCo Recycle Rally is a perfect way to encourage kids of all ages and the community to get excited about recycling. Sometimes simple reminders like recycling signs or stickers will get more people involved!
If this sounds like a program you want to get involved with you can sign up for the Recycle Rally here.
How are you teaching your kids to recycle?
That is such a cool game to get kids to recycle! I would have never thought of that! I absolutely hate seeing trash on the side of the roads and wonder why people feel the need to just litter all over the place. We live in town, right behind Sonic AND a car wash and we get so much trash in our hedges and yard.
What a great initiative to educate kids at an early age about the importance of recycling. I also can't stand seeing trash or plastic water bottles discarded in parks or on roads. I think it's perfect timing to introduce this inititiative at the start of the school year.
What a great program! I just read something about this earlier this week. My boys been working with a program that is almost like the recycle rally. It's so important to teach our children early about recycling.
I love this idea. Our family is big of recycling, and upcycling. This is a great way to get more people involved. It's such an important thing. Working together can actually be fun.
That bulls eye that you put on your recycle bin is such a great idea. I am going to have to do that. I like that Pepsi is doing this too!
I love how you made this a game. That is the perfect way to get them involved. Where we live they provide recycle bins and we do use them but we've never made it into a game. So smart!!
What a cool idea…I'm sure adults would have fun with that too! My kids are still quite young but I reming them all the time about the importance of recycling! Never too young to start learning!
What a cute idea! I love this to get the family more involved in recycling and make it fun as well. This is such a wonderful idea for all ages and even great for a school!
A very cute idea, my kids loved getting involved with recycling. We made a rain recycling center when my kids were in High school. Recycling is so important to involve the family.
An additional advantage of keen warming and cooling frameworks is that they for the most part incorporate more vitality effective radiators and aeration and cooling systems. http://www.homyden.com/squirrel-control-identify-prevent-get-rid-squirrels/
We have made recycling a must in our house for years now. I love the idea of the recycling bin target game. This would be good for the grandkids.
