There is a field trip that everyone looks forward to in Preschool and Kindergarten at the school our kids attend. It always takes place in the fall and we wish for nice weather because….COLORADO! This field trip is to a local working farm called Miller Farms. This is located in Platteville, which is north of Denver. The whole objective of this trip is to have the kids see a working farm and learn to harvest their own vegetables.
This year was a bit different for us because now that Jude is in grade school, he does not come a long for this trip. While we were really sad about this, it was a great day for Jeremy and I to have some one on one time with Teagan.
Tips For Visiting Miller Farms in Platteville Colorado:
- Wear old clothing and shoes – the fields may be muddy
- Bring canvas bags/reusable bags – veggies are heavy, the plastic bags available at the farm tear easily
- Bring gardening tools and gloves
- Wear bug spray and sunscreen
- Have kids use the restrooms before heading out to the fields
- Mornings can be very busy with school field trips, think about an afternoon visit
- Pack a lunch and hang out after your field experience

My son would go nuts over that life-size Mater truck lol. It looks like you and your family had such a blast. I love spending valuable family time together at outings like this! I would love to visit Miller Farms.
What a fun day!! This sounds like such a fun outing for the whole family! I love going to the farm and apple/pumpkin picking during this time of year. It's always a fun time!
Bless my Disney loving heart! That's the cutest farm! I love this time of year and all of the family friendly activities there are, like picking your own veggies. Look like you had a great time.
I do not think that we have visited a full pick your own produce Farm like this before. But my kids love visiting farms in general, so I know that they were like this. It definitely looks like a fun day.
We have field trips to the farm too but never like this. We get one tiny container for like $9 and you really can't get much. i really love this! All we were aloud to pick were fruits. I would love to be able to pick my own carrots and such. How fun!
How fun and you brought home lots of garden goodies. I love field trips to farms, so I try to take my kids local ones throughout the year. Berry farms are the best with all the picking. That Mater truck is too cute.
Miller farms is the absolute best! My son really enjoys the automobiles painted like the characters from Cars. The food we bring home is always good too. Really hoping we can get out there this year!!
Look at those delicious veggies! What a fab way to get outside and fun for the kids too. Farm to table all the way!
Such a fun combination of the real farm stuff and super friendly kids activity. I bet my kids don't even know that carrots come from the ground! LOL
I love taking my son to these type of places. So much to learn and time to get dirty and learn about agriculture. Your little one is adorable. Love that these places are kid friendly and educational
