It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! Holiday events, family gatherings, traditional recipes and so much more. This time of the year I always find myself heading to Sam’s Club to pick up some holiday baking and cooking essentials. Anytime I think of preparing for my favorite holiday dishes I think of needing Swanson® Chicken Broth, Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup and Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup. I love that Sam’s Club has the 6 pack of resealable Swanson® Chicken Broth. I use a lot of this during this time of the year and having a resealable option really helps. Swanson® Chicken Broth is 100% Natural and also the #1 selling broth. It’s true…not all broths are made equal! In addition to chicken broth I find myself going through a lot of condensed soup – both the cream of chicken and cream of mushroom. These soups are the perfect addition to any side dish or meal. Oh and you have to pick up the super convenient pantry packs of these Campbell’s® Cream Soups. No more running to the store just to make your favorite dish, and you’ll have some cans leftover to donate!
Time to share some of my favorite recipes for this season. Like all of my recipes, these have to be super easy because LIFE! Part of enjoying the holiday season is being able to provide a yummy meal for my friends and family but still have time and energy to enjoy my guests. Having easy recipes like this on hand make that possible.
1. Prepare potatoes by peeling and dicing them into 1 inch pieces.
2. In a large pot add the Swanson® Chicken Broth and diced potatoes. Bring pot to a boil.
3. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and cover with a lid.
4. Let potatoes cook for 10-15 minutes.
5. Drain potatoes, making sure to keep 1/4 cup of Swanson® Chicken Broth from the pot.
6. In a large bowl combine the cooked potatoes, 1/4 cup cooked broth, butter, cream, sour cream and black pepper.
7. Using a hand mixer, mix potatoes until nice and creamy! Enjoy potatoes as a side dish with your holiday meal. Delicious!
Over the years, the mashed potatoes at our family gatherings have always been the talk of the table. Now that I am having the opportunity to bring side dishes to the family dinners I am excited to have my family try this recipe. Adding sour cream, heavy cream and Swanson® Chicken Broth is an idea I got from volunteering at my son’s school for Thanksgiving feast. I had no idea about this fancy trick that literally takes no more time than my “normal” mashed potato recipe. Honestly, boiling the potatoes in the Swanson® Chicken Broth is brilliant. Talk about adding great flavor to the potato itself.
Now that I have shared The Perfect Mashed Potatoes with you, now it is time to share my very favorite holiday appetizer with you!
4. Use a hand mixer to create a creamy chicken mixture.
5. Place a heaping spoonful of the chicken mixture in the middle of each croissant.
6. Carefully bring the corners of the croissants together to cover the chicken mixture.
7. Bake croissants for 16-18 minutes.
8. Enjoy warm. Can be served as an appetizer or even a meal. Enjoy!
Now, I am telling you, this recipe is one that your guests will be asking for again. We love having these as a meal on busy work nights as well. Just like the mashed potatoes they are super easy to make.
Holiday Taste of Sam’s
Sam’s Club will be hosting their annual Holiday Taste of Sam’s event, a huge in-club demo sampling occasion. Swanson® Chicken Broth will be sampled with Idahoan Mashed Potatoes on Dec 21 & 22.

Before you head out to this event and stock up on these items, think about how you could also benefit local food drives this time of the year. Now, I have said that we use a lot of these products this time of the year but the fact is, we cannot possibly need all of these before the New Year which means, I have decided to have my kids help me take our left over broth and soup to our local food drive. Thankfully our school collaborates with our city to help stock the pantry locally. I love this!
My kids and I will be delivering new toys as well as some great holiday soups and broths to the drive. This time of the year we should all think about little ways we can help our neighbors in need. And parents…use this time of the year as a teachable moment for kids of all ages.

You've just posted about my all-time favorite side on our holiday table. Bcause life it too short to eat inferior mashed potatoes, I make mine like my grandma did, with a shameless amount of brown butter with buttermilk for tang. It's been hard to make them any other way since. x
