How many of you grew up going to a dentist that had a sign in the waiting room that said “Only Floss The Teeth You Want To Keep”? My dentist office had a really pretty wood sign with that exact statement on it. I think I will always remember that sign. I have to be honest, I have dentist anxiety so when I was growing up the thought of dealing with rotting teeth is what got me to floss! And even now, as a mom teaching the kids to brush and floss their teeth I make it clear that they only have to brush and floss the teeth they really want to keep.
So, why am I talking about flossing? Well, my kids challenged me. They really do notice everything so when I was teaching them how to floss they both asked me why I don’t floss every day. Oh man! They got me. So, as we are venturing into this New Year, why not make it a family challenge? Because, goodness knows, these kids learn from our actions. Plus, that sign from my childhood dentist office always haunts me when I think of flossing. I want to keep all of my teeth! Don’t you?
We are partnering with DenTek® and taking part in their 30 Day DenTek® Family Floss Challenge. Like I said, we are doing this as a family. So to start this challenge we headed to our local Walmart to purchase our DenTek® Floss Picks. DenTek® keeps the kids in mind as well, so they have special kid flossers that are just for kiddos.
DenTek® Kids Fun Flossers makes flossing fun and enjoyable for children while establishing healthy dental-care habits at an early age. DenTek® Kids Fun Flossers feature a smaller head, an easy-to-grip handle, and a wild fruit flavor kids will love. My kids especially love the bright fun colors too! It is fun to have them choose what color they want to use every morning. Once we found the kids Flossers in the kids’ oral care aisle at Walmart we made our way to the adult oral care aisle to pick up some DenTek® Flossers for us.
We decided on the DenTek® Triple Clean Floss Picks for our challenge tools! DenTek® Triple Clean Floss Picks gives three times the cleaning action in one floss pick. The flossers scrub between tight teeth, stimulate gums, and remove food and plaque and the textured pick deep cleans between teeth and stimulates gums. The tongue cleaner fights bad breath with minty flavoring and the strong floss is guaranteed not to break, even when used between the tightest teeth.

We are well on our way through our 30 Day DenTek® Family Floss Challenge and we are all actually having fun doing it. I don’t know about you but when I start doing a new habit for over 30 days I can usually continue that habit without any big issues. I am excited to see how this challenge changes the way our family looks at flossing and oral health. Every morning before brushing our teeth, we each pick out one of our new DenTek® Floss Picks and floss, it literally only adds an additional two minutes to our morning routine. When we find ourselves trying to skip a day, I have to remind all of us, yes even me, that it is only two minutes! It can be done!
It is never too early or too late to start building healthy habits and the benefits built over just the 30 days of flossing! Adults and children alike should be jumping teeth first into this fun family challenge!
Will you and your family be taking the 30 Day DenTek® Family Floss Challenge?
Oh man! I must admit, I don't floss (shame on me), but I've seen, many times, the floss picks and I believe this would be so much easier to use, as well as get on a regular flossing routine. Will definitely have to get into this challenge!
We use DenTek® and love them! They DO make flossing SO much easier and I do it far more often when I have them! Granted I still do not do it as often as I should. I think the kids DenTek® look fun! I may get some for myself haha!
I should definitely challenge myself and my husband to this! We are both guilty of not flossing as much as we should. Those picks seem like they would make the process a lot less daunting.
I love my waterpik but sometimes you just need good ole fashion floss. I too use DenTek; keep them right in my beauty box. It can be a bit time consuming, but my teeth surely thank me.
I love that sign about flossing the teeth you'd want to keep. It's funny but definitely makes a point. The great thing about flossing these days is that there's product like DenTek that makes flossing very easy to do.
I keep these DenTex floss sticks on hand every where we go. I can't tell you how many times I tell the kids how important it is to floss. I love how easy and small they are and that you can take them anywhere.
This is such a fan chalenge! I am sure my kids, especially the little one will love this. This way I will be sure that they will floos their teeth every day!
We also use Dentek, my husband was pretty religious with flossing and I'm not. And it's also hard for me to floss the kids teeth with the conventional flosses. It's not until I tried the Dentek Kids that me and the kids started flossing daily. I've already tried other brands and this is the one that fits perfectly. There is another brand that when you floss, it's hard to navigate it around the mouth, I don't know why.
I do not floss as I ought to. I find myself only flossing when I have a piece of meat stuck in my teeth… .this post reminded me that I should do a better job of flossing. Thanks for you post and good luck with the challenge!
