Finding family activities in the freezing cold weather of Colorado can be difficult but Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs has you covered. Many thanks to Great Wolf Lodge for sponsoring this post all about why Why You Need To Book A Winter Family Escape To Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs.
In February 2017, Great Wolf Lodge opened in Colorado Springs Colorado and last week I had the pleasure of celebrating their ONE year anniversary/birthday. Colorado Springs is about 70 miles south of Denver so I took a silent drive to one of Colorado’s happiest places on earth! Did you catch that? SILENT drive, unfortunately due to school testing, the kids were not able to join me on this trip but I have already decided we MUST book a family trip soon. That being said, this silent drive through beautiful Colorado, funny how a drive all by yourself relaxes you. Anyway, I was super excited for this trip because I had never visited a Great Wolf Lodge before. I was happy to get to check out the digs before making the decision that this was a great place to enjoy a family getaway.
Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs is ONE Year Old!
When I arrived to Great Wolf Lodge I had time to enjoy a pizza lunch a Hungry as a Wolf inside the Adventure Park area and explore all of the great amenities and activities around the lodge and Adventure Park. A few minutes before 1pm we gathered as a big group around the celebration area which included cake, cupcakes, balloons, and the Great Wolf Lodge characters. This special celebration was open to the public and guests. It was a lot of fun to see everyone so excited to celebrate and eat cake!
Ten seconds before 1pm, the General Manager James Anderson got the crowd ready for a birthday countdown – 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, ONE!!! And with that, we all gave our best Wolf howls! Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs is ONE!!! There was fun music, confetti and cake was served. I was so happy to be apart of a great celebration like this, all of the staff and guests were so excited – it was great to see!

Why You Need To Book A Winter Family Escape To Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs
Thaw Out And Play In The Water. When you book your trip to the Great Wolf Lodge, you also gain access to the weather proof waterpark! Here in Colorado that is a big deal. My kids LOVE going to the waterpark in the summertime but come winter it seems like the swimsuits take a vacation. With over 5 water slides, a wave pool, a fort tree house, and lily pad challenge the kids will be busy for hours. Well, let’s be honest, the adults will be as well.
Safe Family Fun. Once you are in the lodge, you and your kids are kind of contained. This allows for a lot of family time but also time for everyone to enjoy their own favorites – be it mini golf, ropes course, swimming or even a spa! There is literally something for everyone to enjoy!
Fun Hotel Rooms. This isn’t just your standard hotel. These rooms are built for kids! There are three levels of suites available – standard, themed and premium. Due to this lodge being only one year old – this whole space is beautiful and well kept. The themed and premium rooms include a fun cave themed area for the kids to sleep. What a fun treat!
Less crowds, less money. Going during the off season (winter) you will find that the crowds aren’t nearly as overwhelming and the resort prices are a bit lower. Take advantage of those winter 3 day weekends!
Kids Need Breaks Too! Do you feel the winter blues. I know I do, guess what? The kids do too! Time to get out of the house and into the lodge and enjoy some great activities that you usually do not get to enjoy in the winter time – at least here in Colorado.
Connect With The Staff. During my visit I was so impressed seeing how the staff interacted with the kids and guests. They were helpful, engaged and having fun. I would feel comfortable letting my son go to the Activity Park on his own after seeing how attentive the staff were with other kids.
Ditch The Plane Tickets. If you live in Colorado, you might be trying to think of a winter escape plan for you and family. Ditch the plane ticket costs and head on a drive to Colorado Springs. The Great Wolf Lodge has an all inclusive feeling that will have you forgetting about the day to day you left behind on your drive in.
Delicious Food On Site. Keep in mind you can bring a cooler of food and drinks and leave them in your room but you can also take advantage of the great food options on site. You can literally park your car, check in and not drive again until it is time to head home. I love that! Vacation to me is not having to plan every meal! With over four dining options you and the kids will be satisfied for every meal. I also love the idea of the Craveables and Drinks in the waterpark. Not having to dry off and change is a bonus in my opinion.
After coming home from the anniversary celebration at The Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs I told Jeremy that we must book our visit soon. I know our kids would have such a great time and like most of you, I am ready for a little winter escape! Book you next family getaway to the Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs here.
What a fun celebration! We love the indoor pool there. Glad you guys had a blast!
I’m totally using the promise of a trip to Great Wolf Lodge as a way to motivate my kids to keep at it with swimming lessons. I can’t wait until we are ready for our first family get away there!
Now that is a great idea!
I need a vacation. This looks like a great spot. It seems like you had a lot of fun.
This looks fun! I just saw a groupon deal in our area for it, may have to do it!
YES! I have heard that grabbing a groupon is the best thing when trying to stay on budget too! Have fun!
My daughter has always wanted to go there but there was not one nearby. Well that was until recently I heard there were a couple of them not too far away. We need to make plans to go because it just looks like she would really love it there and so would my husband.
I haven’t visited Great Wolf Lodge yet. We have one in Southern California that opened like 2 years ago. I like that it’s like an all-inclusive resort. Thanks for the reminder. We should visit this Spring Break.
I’ve never been to the one in Colorado Springs, but I have been to the Great Wolf Lodge here in NC. I remember going for a friend’s birthday when i was in high school. we had so much fun. I love indoor waterparks.
I’ve always wanted to go! Pinning this!
Thanks for sharing this great info. After reading your post, I checked to see if there was a Great Wolf Lodge near us, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that one is being built here in Georgia. It looks like a great place for kids.
We LOVE the GWL. We went a few times last year, and I can hardly wait to go again.
