Celebrating National Nutrition Month
Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? I honestly had no idea but I am excited to be celebrating this month with some delicious snacks that are not only healthy but also perfect for the whole family. I think March really is a great month to be celebrating National Nutrition Month because if you are like me, those big New Year goals have gone missing. Yup, it’s true! And while I would love to blame all of the crazy work I have been doing, planning a gala for the kid’s school and LIFE in general the fact is…I really need to blame my bad snacking habits on not sticking to my goals. So, when I was given the opportunity to try some healthy snacks, I was ready!
The best part about all of these great snack items are that just because they are healthier options, they still taste amazing. Talk about a WIN WIN! Oh and I have to add that these are not just for adults, these are for kids too! Any lunchbox heroes out there running out of lunchbox ideas for the kids as the school year moves along? Oh that struggle is real! And now let me share some of my favorites that are quickly becoming apart of my daily snacking routine.
Healthy Snacks For The Whole Family
Brew Dr. Kombucha
Over the last few years I have been reading about people making their own Kombucha and how that by adding a simple and delicious drink to their diet has brought so many great health benefits to their life and bodies. Look, my family has had their fair share of “tummy issues” so I was ready to add Kombucha to my daily routine but the idea of “growing” my own was not a favorite of mine. Brew Dr Kombucha is the perfect way to enjoy the benefits of kombucha without learning how to make your own. Kombucha is fermented tea that contains live and active ingredients. It’s 100% raw, probiotic, unpasteurized and non-alcoholic.
Brew Dr Kombucha has quickly become my afternoon drink of choice when I am trying to stay focused on work. Brew Dr has two flavors of kombucha; Clear Mind and Herbal Uplift. The Clear Mind flavor is my favorite currently, it is a brilliant botanical flavor with notes of rosemary and sage. The herbs assist in mental clarity and focus. Perfect for my afternoon slumps, and a much better beverage to enjoy as it is tasty, low in sugar and low in calories.
JOLLY TIME Simply Popped Pop Corn
Sometimes food grows on you. When I was younger, I was not a fan of popcorn at all but as I got older and wiser, my taste changed for the better and I now LOVE popcorn. Thankfully my kids do as well so popcorn has become a great snack idea that I pack in their lunches as well. When I read about JOLLY TIME Simply Popped Pop Corn I was really surprised to read that this delicious microwave butter popcorn is made with just four simple ingredients. Butter, sea salt, popcorn and oil – SIMPLY! This is a great snack that is not only gluten-free but is also packed full of fiber and contains zero grams of trans fats.
Now when I am popping my pop corn I feel great about my crunchy and satisfying snack because it only has 35 calories per cup! This new popcorn is packed with wholesome, whole grain goodness that keeps me feeling fuller longer and I still get to enjoy one of my favorite snacks guilt free. I choose JOLLY TIME Simply Popped Pop Corn over other microwave popcorn brands because I feel good about eating it!
nutpods Dairy Free Creamers
I have a problem…a problem with coffee creamers. Look, I need coffee every morning but I cannot enjoy it black. Have you seen that picture on social media? The one that numbers different colors of coffee – “Which One Are You?” Yeah, I am pretty much the lightest option! The other day Jeremy asked me if I had any coffee with my creamer? HA! Well, this is where I really needed to find a new healthier solution to my creamer “issue”. Look, I know that adding that much creamer to my coffee is terrible, especially when it is full of sugar and fat. I have found my solution and that solution is nutpods.
I had heard about nutpods Diary Free Creamers from people doing the Whole 30 and Keto diet but I really didn’t know what it was. nutpods diary-free, plant-based creamers are made from almonds and coconuts, contains no artificial ingredients and blend perfectly into coffee or tea. The dairy-free coffee creamers come in three flavors: Original, French Vanilla and Hazelnut. My favorite has to be Hazelnut but French Vanilla is a close second in my books. And surprisingly, my need for a ton of creamer is no more. This flavor gives my coffee exactly what I needed. This means my morning routine starts off a lot healthier now that I am using nutpods. This is a new generation of coffee and tea and it has me switching things up!
If you are looking for a healthier option to your morning cup of coffee or tea you need to give nutpods a chance – currently, you can use the code BABBLE20 to receive 20% off your purchase on nutpods.com. This is valid March 12 – April 12, 2018.
JUNKLESS Chewy Granola Bars
And now something my kids just cannot get enough of. Every day, Jude has to take a small snack to school and while that seems like an easy task it becomes something I think about a lot more than I would like to admit. The whole point of sending a snack to school is to give him that extra afternoon boost, just like that afternoon boost I need every day, so if I send sugary and sweet items that pretty much defeats that boost purpose. But, kids make things difficult. That is why we absolutely love JUNKLESS Chewy Granola Bars. Yes, JUNKLESS!
JUNKLESS Chewy Granola Bars are a perfect wholesome, non-GMO school snack as they don’t contain any artificial preservatives, colors or flavors, hydrogenated oils or high-fructose corn syrup. With so many flavors to choose from, we have all found our favorites. Jude’s favorite is the JUNKLESS Chewy Granola Bars – Chocolate Chip but Teagan LOVES the Cinnamon Roll flavor that in my opinion literally tastes like a freshly baked cinnamon roll.
I love the JUNKLESS slogan on their box – “No Fake Stuff Added”! I can feel great about sending these oat packed, soft and chewy granola bar with Jude to school and they have now become our favorite on-the-go healthy snack for the whole family. You can purchase your own delicious JUNKLESS Chewy Granola Bars from Amazon and for more information about these delicious and healthy snack options visit the JUNKLESS website.
Sprout® Organic Crinklez
Time to talk about picky eaters. I wish I could let you into our home for a glimpse of what we deal with during meal and snack time with Teagan. This sassy lady is 5 years old going on 16 and when it comes to eating, anything we tell her to try she does the opposite! Oh man, that struggle is REAL! When I first let Teagan try these delicious these Sprout® Organic Crinklez which are veggie snacks made from plant powered chickpeas and popped with colorful carrots, spinach, and beets I was wondering what her reaction would be. Guess what? SHE LOVES THEM! You can literally see the great veggies in each snack and the fun shape and crunchy texture is a great snack for kids and toddlers.
Whole Foods Market just predicted that puffed and popped snacks will be a major trend in the coming year and Sprout’s new veggie and bean based popped snack will surely be a parents choice for toddler snacks. The Crinklez are currently available in Cheesy Spinach and Pumpkin Carrot flavors, while Teagan and I like both flavors we both really enjoy the Cheesy Spinach. While these are created with toddlers in mind, they are really a great healthy snack for the whole family.
I am so happy we have added all of these delicious and convenient healthy snacks to our family snacking routine. Celebrating National Nutrition Month is easy with snacks like these!
Have you and your family tried any of these Healthy Snacks for the Whole Family?
I have never heard of this brand. We are not big on snacking, but when do need something we try to keep it healthy. Our teenager is vegan, so she will usually sick to fruit and veggies, but sometimes she like to add seaweed crackers or rice cakes. I think we all crave a little salty sometimes. Like popcorn.
I usually eat pretty healthy but snacks are my weakness. I would love to try Crinkles because I love salty, crunchy snacks, especially when watching a movie. Granola bars are my go-to afternoon snack to hold me over until dinner so I’d love to try the Junkless ones that are a little better for you than some other brands.
This looks like an amazing box. Snacking is the hardest part of eating healthy. I love that there are a wide variety of healthy, yet delicious snacks to help you stay health! I love the name of the Junkless bars!! Such a great name!
I did not know it was national nutrition month but good to know. We have been trying to eat healthier at home. Less eating out and more organic and gmo-free foods. I need to check out some of the foods you recommend in here.
I also didn’t realize March was National Nutrition month. I’m a fellow kombucha lover and have one every afternoon as well. Not only are they delicious, but just a few sips takes away my craving for a little something sweet. Also, my husband always keeps a few of the Junkless bars in his desk at work. Nice to have a snack without all of the sugar and additives. x
I love having something healthy to grab and go with because it is not always easy to make good decisions with food when on then go. I need to try these out and pack them in lunches for everyone. Thanks for sharing this brand, I have never heard of it but may be a new big fan, we shall see!
These all look great! The name “junkless” just makes it sound awesome! Finding healthy snacks is always a challenge for me because I would love to always opt for the bad stuff if I could.
