What Is The GraviTrax Building Set?

With the GraviTrax interactive track system, you can design and build your own race tracks and experiment with gravity, magnetism, and kinetics to propel your ball to the finish. With a variety of tiles, levels, tracks and features, you can control the speed of each ball.

The open-ended building concept offers endless possibilities to design a different track every time you play. Add flair and speed to your tracks with expansion sets and action accessories. Experience the power of gravity with GraviTrax. With over 100 pieces and 18 different construction elements, the GraviTrax Starter Set offers everything you need to begin building your own action-packed track systems. Discover how the laws of physics affect the track your ball takes with curves, crosses, freefalls and even a cannon. Experiment using different heights and angles to control the speed of the ball. The included tasks and construction plans introduce you to the world of GraviTrax. Or let your creativity take over and begin constructing your own track designs from scratch.

When GraviTrax debuted in Germany it sold out, but now it’s coming to the U.S. in April at Barnes & Noble and to more retailers later this summer.

This set is designed for ages 8+.  Additional Expansion sets are also available meaning your creations just grow in possibilities!

Why Your Kids Need Gravitrax

When I had the opportunity to review the Gravitrax Starter Kit was was so excited, especially after reading about the kit.  I knew that this would be a great activity for Jude and Jeremy to do together.  I really love the STEM model and believe that Jude would totally benefit from adding more STEM activities and learning opportunities to his daily schedule.  Look, the kid love video games and reading but when we put something in front of him that he can build and create he gets super excited.

After playing with the Gravitrax building set this weekend I am sharing why I believe your kids need the Gravitrax Building Set!

Book of Fun.

The Gravitrax system comes with a book full of designs you can build.  There are some super complicated ones and some that just took a few minutes to achieve.  The book helps your child learn and get familiar with all the concepts of the materials in the set.  Maybe some kids do not have the creative eye to build their own track, this book makes the set perfect for any eye!

Screen Free.

Guys, this set could keep Jude busy for a day, SCREEN FREE!  With over 100 pieces to the starter set he can build and build.  If you are looking for an activity too keep your older kiddos busy and away from screens the GraviTrax Building Set is something to look into.

STEM in the Home.

Like I said, we love the STEM model.  Having a fun and easy way to incorporate the STEM model into Jude’s free time is great.  Gravitrax is not only a form of architecture but in short is a science experiment as well.  Will this track use gravity to move the marble?  What happens if I lower the track a little? What will affect the magnet in the marble on this track?  You get the idea.

Accomplishment.

The way Jude’s face lit up after he completed his first track and it worked properly was priceless!  He worked hard to read the book of instructions and find a design he wanted to try and then built it.  What a great away to build confidence in children.

Creative Flow.

Learning can be fun and creative.  After getting the hang of the tracks, Jude decided to try to build his own design.  While it didn’t go as planned it was great to see that brain of his working towards a solution.  Literally the options are endless for building your own designs.  I am excited to see what he comes up with next.

Problem Solving Skills.

And to go along with design and creativity there is problem solving.  I have always heard that Problem Solving is a skill that all people need to master when they are young.  It shapes the way to work through real life as you grow into an adult.  Gravitrax encourages problem solving even when you are following the book designs.  Learning to look at a picture of instructions and then working the problem out on the “game board” – such a great skill to master all while having fun!

I am so amazed by this, I would like to buy one for my nephews and nieces just so that I can play with it at their house. Honestly, I feel this would keep not just the kids but myself occupied for a while. I think its great that they include a book for the different ways you can build and set up the pieces.

I’m loving the Gravitrax building sets! Especially since they can be easy or hard and come with a book helping you (if you need it) put them together. This might sound dorky, but this winter my husband and I bought an expert LEGO set (1000+ pieces) and put it together. It was like a giant puzzle that we worked on a little every evening over a glass of wine. xx

Most children I know now tend to focus more of their attention with games on computers and tablets. It’s great to break that once in a while and provide them with physical toys they can tinker around with. The Gravitrax building set can help them improve their thinking and creativity.
