Motherhood is the most precious gift one can receive. I did not know how much love my heart could hold until someone called me MOM. The most precious jewels you’ll ever have around your neck are the arms of your children. Ahh…sweet motherhood. Now, do not get me wrong, all of those quotes are lovely and true but the fact is…Motherhood is the hardest but most rewarding job on the planet. Do you know what makes this job even harder? Summertime. No, I am not talking about summer break and the kids being home from school, I am talking about open window weather. A season that everyone has the chance to air their mothering downfalls to ALL!
Summer Is Here – Windows Are Open – My Mothering Downfalls For ALL!
I am sure you have all seen the meme on social media about this but honestly, it is something that haunts me. I love when the weather is nice enough to open the windows and let fresh air into our house. The fresh air does us all good. But then, the vulnerability hits. Oh my gosh, my neighbors can hear me! Keep it together, be the mother that everyone knows you are.
I swear neighbors, I am not crazy and I assure you I have asked my children to do that ONE SIMPLE thing nicely about a bazillion times before losing my cool and yelling. I promise that I love and adore my children and would never hurt them, even though their crying and screaming sounds like I am torturing them.
Moms You Are Not Alone
Children, you are my favorites, I love you more than you can ever imagine but when you act like this, I want to never ever open our windows again. Also, why is it that you always have to scream and cry when we have the window open? Can you not move your tantrum throwing self to the bathroom where no windows are present? Let’s work on that.
So as I write this, I know I am not alone but I just need to get it out there – neighbors, I am a good mom you are just seeing…I mean hearing, ALL of my mothering downfalls. For those of you moms out there that can keep your voice down, TEACH me your ways. And for those moms out there that catch yourself in the middle of a yell when you notice your window is open…I feel your pain. Summer weather is here and I guess it is time to hear all the moms roar!!
Social Media and Open Windows
While my honesty might be silly in this post, it also comes with some really important things that all moms need to consider. I think we have all been guilty of making ourselves feel badly when browsing on social media and seeing other moms do things better than us. That whole negative self-talk thing is really easy to get caught up in. Just like when we open our windows in our home, and our true voices and family noise enters the neighborhood we feel so vulnerable, the same thing is true on social media.
As a social influencer I am pretty skilled at cleaning one corner of my kitchen or living room to get the perfect shot but if you were in my home during that photo shoot you would see a mountain of toys, books and dust….real life. So while we feel so embarrassed after our neighbors hear our screaming or craziness the truth is…they more than likely have similar noises coming from their windows. We like to present ourselves as the very best mother possible both in person and online but when we open our windows or share an unedited photo our TRUE self is shown. Moms, it is okay to do this.
So, as you open those windows and get that much needed fresh air in your home, enjoy it. And try to bribe your children to keep it together...just kidding!!! (kind of)
Great pictures with your kids! Motherhood is beautiful
