Well friends, have we reached that moment of summer vacation yet? You know exactly what I am talking about, that moment that you decide you will pay your children’s teachers to come back to school a few weeks early because THESE KIDS have lost their minds! It isn’t that I mind having them home with me, it is that once they are out of their school routines, their behaviors seems to make a complete 180. Routines are so important for my kids. I am sure you can all relate. So in these last few weeks of summer vacation “fun” I decided to stretch their creative play a bit and take some traditionally indoor toys outdoors for a few hours. Guess what…it was PERFECT!!
HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks – Perfect Summer Entertainment
Our front yard and driveway is the perfect place for the kids to play in the morning. The sun not blazing yet and it is nice and cool. Here in Colorado we are dealing with upper 90’s recently and for us that is HOT! So come afternoon we cannot handle being outside but that is why I decided we had to make our mornings be our outside time.
When I was trying to think of things to do outside besides the normal things – sidewalk chalk, bubbles, bikes, scooters and soccer – I decided to head to Walmart and walk the toy aisles. And that is when I saw them…the trusted HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks!!
The HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks products provide GIANT fun! Bigger and better crashing and smashing and play! These monster trucks are durable, fun, and ready to go anywhere! I grew up with Monster Trucks but honestly had never thought of taking them outside, they seemed like an indoor toy to me but with them being so durable it makes complete sense to take them outside and let them crash, race, roll through dirt, slide down slides, and jump over bumps.
When I set out all of the Monster Truck goodies in the front yard both Jude and Teagan were so excited. Immediately they started planning how they were going to set up some races down our driveway. I loved seeing them plan and play together while I watched their creative play shine through. Getting those brains working even while playing. Oh and to be clear, these photos show lots of smiles but just like any siblings we have a lot of fights and “I WANT THAT ONE”. Please tell me I am not alone!
I was so excited to see Teagan just as happy with this idea of playing in the front yard with the HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks. In true Teagan style she did pick the prettiest truck to play with.
Our driveway is pretty perfect for a race with Monster Trucks. Enough of a hill but not too steep. The kids picked out which Hot Wheels they would be using for their races and we got started. We decided that it would be easiest to let the driveway help with this race, meaning they did not push the HOT WHEELS, instead they just let go of them and watch them roll!
I have to say, these HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks have gotten quite an upgrade since my days of playing with them. Like I said they are super durable but they are also really well designed. I loved the colorful paintings and creative names and Jude commented on how fun it was to have the trucks have such big wheels.
ON YOUR MARKS…GET SET…GO!!!!!!!
We did best out of five for each of our races. It was so much fun to see both Jude and Teagan get so into it. In true kid fashion, both of them struggled a few times when the other person won the race. It really was a great time to have some teachable moments for them. Even at 8 years old, Jude really struggles with this and it is something we are working on. We talked a lot about losing with grace. Life is full of loss…we must teach our children to be ready to lose with grace. Even when it is to your little sister.
WINNER!!!
Not sure if you can tell from this picture but this little has glittery make-up on and loves playing with these Monster Trucks. It is so important to encourage all children to play with all kinds of toys. I really do not know why we have trained our brains to think that trucks and cars are for boys only because just like Teagan I love playing with trucks, especially these fun Monster Trucks.
We had such a great time playing with our HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks. It was the perfect summer activity and it kept the kids outside in the fresh air for over an hour. Once Jude and Teagan were done with their races they moved into our front grass…with a giant old tree in our yard you better believe the Monster Truck rally continued by having the trucks go over the huge tree roots in the grass. So fun!!
Ever since our morning fun in the front yard with HOT WHEELS Monster Trucks we have been having Monster Truck Rallies in our living room too. Again, this is a perfect toy for all ages and genders and I have found that toys like this help my kids learn to play creativity together.
I see a playdate in our future!
