I love making my own sugar and salt scrubs. Maybe because living in Colorado my skin is always needing a little TLC. I have a few favorites like my Lavender Vanilla Salt Scrub and my Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub. These are my must haves year round but during this transitional season I wanted to create something with a citrus and energizing property. My simply combining sugar, orange zest, coconut oil and orange essential oil I created a perfect orange sugar scrub in minutes!
Make Your Own Orange Sugar Scrub
Not only do homemade scrubs make you feel like you spent the afternoon at the spa but these simple scrubs save you time and money. Taking time for yourself is so important and by creating scrubs that help you relax, feel energized or just take you away from the every day stress you will make sure you take that time!
Materials Needed:
1 1/2 cup sugar
Zest from one large orange
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
7 drops of orange essential oil
1 medium glass jar with lid
Directions:
1. Pour sugar into a medium bowl.
2. Zest the orange and add the fresh orange zest to the bowl of sugar. Combine zest and sugar by carefully mixing.
3. Melt coconut oil in the microwave for 15 seconds.
4. Pour coconut oil into the sugar mixture and carefully combine.
5. Add 7 drops of orange essential oil into the sugar scrub mixture and combine well.
6. Sugar scrub is ready to use. ENJOY!
Tip: For storage, this scrub can be kept in an airtight container for 2 weeks.
