This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TrainYourDragonAtWalmart http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

It is finally that time of the year – end of school and a very exciting release of the conclusion to an epic trilogy can now be added to our home collection!! How to Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World is now available to purchase.  We saw this movie in the theaters and absolutely loved the addition of a new female dragon character – Light Fury!  Since our entire family LOVES the How To Train Your Dragon movies you better believe I had big plans to surprise the kids with this release.

End of the School Year Celebration with How To Train Your Dragon 3

Like I said we are a family that loves the How To Train Your Dragon everything.  In fact, Jude is about halfway through the book series now as well.  Dragons are apart of our everyday talk in our house.  This week has been a struggle for us all, it seems like every evening we have something on the calendar to attend.  We are all exhausted, busy and so ready for summer break to start.  To celebrate the end of the school year I decided to surprise the kids with a How To Train Your Dragon 3 movie afternoon and snack yesterday.

To pull off this celebration in style I went to Walmart to pick up the How To Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set, a few other fun How To Train Your Dragon items and some ingredients for a very special snack to enjoy while we watched How To Train Your Dragon 3 all snuggled up on the couch before heading off to our next school event for the week.

Now, I knew that the DVD and snacks would be enough to make this special celebration enough but when I saw this DVD gift set I just could not put it down.  This Walmart exclusive DVD gift set comes with a Toothless and Light Fury Funko Key chain!  I knew that Teagan would instantly claim these cute little figures and I could not want to get them home.  Guess what…she loves the little Funko key chains, especially Light Fury, she thinks she and Light Fury have the same eyes…I agree!

In addition to the DVD I was able to find Jude an awesome How To Train Your Dragon t-shirt and a Grimmel & Deathgripper toy all at Walmart.  Super convenient and a ton of great apparel and toys to choose from.  We were dragon ready but first I had to prepare our yummy movie snack so the kids could jump on the couch and watch the movie as soon as they got home from school!

Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Yes, DRAGON fruit!!  My kids love smoothies but I thought it would be really great to not only have a movie themed snack but let them try a new fruit in their smoothies.  I picked up some beautiful dragon fruit, mango, pineapple and yogurt to make a sweet dragon themed smoothie!  YUM!

Ingredients:

(makes 2 smoothies)

1 dragon fruit
1 cup mango
1 cup pineapple
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup water

Directions:

1. Like most smoothies, there isn’t much to this recipe.  The hardest part for me was figuring how to use the dragon fruit properly.  The skin is not edible so you will need to cut the dragon fruit in half and scoop out the soft fruit inside each half.

2. Place dragon fruit, mango, pineapple, Greek Yogurt and water into a blender and pulse until completely blended to your liking.  If the smoothie is too thick you can always add extra water.

3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Both Jude and Teagan enjoyed the smoothie as their movie snack but I think what they loved more was checking out the dragon fruit.  It really is a unique looking fruit.  I am glad we gave it a try and we will be using dragon fruit in our smoothies again soon.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

From DreamWorks Animation comes the highly anticipated How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives.

In this chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies — Hiccup as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced, as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury, will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.

This last chapter of the trilogy shows a great view of true friendship.  I loved the message of this movie and hope that the kids can understand why finding true friendship is so important in life.

Jude and Teagan were very happy How To Train Your Dragon fans.  Not only did they get to watch one of their favorite movies, they got some cool new dragon gear and enjoyed a fun treat too!  OH and we enjoyed the family down time.  While we are super excited for summer we are all really ready for a little break in all of the hustle and bustle.  This time on the couch for this special end of the school year celebration was perfect!

My family and I haven’t seen HTTYD3, but we do like the first two and can’t wait to see this one. I do plan on giving the smoothie recipe a try.
