Finding the perfect Netflix binges for the cooler weather just got easier with this list of binges you can cozy up with Netflix this fall.
Cozy Up With Netflix
Netflix and Chill. Okay, we all know the real meaning of that phrase but let me just make sure we are on the same page. Netflix and chill means getting on your super comfy PJs, grab your favorite cozy blanket and find a good Netflix binge and CHILL. That is what everyone is referring to, right?
Instead of chillin’ I am sharing some cozy up with Netflix options this fall. After a long day on a chilly evening I love to find my favorite winter PJs, a warm blanket and a nice bottle (I mean glass) of wine to enjoy once the kids are in bed. Now the challenge is finding that perfect cozy night time Netflix binge!
Safe
Widowed surgeon Tom has struggled to raise his two daughters alone following his wife’s death a year ago. Things seem to be on the right track for the family, who live in a gated community, because they have close friends nearby and Tom is in the early stages of a new relationship. But the situation takes a turn for the worse when Jenny, Tom’s oldest daughter, goes missing along with her boyfriend. Tom enlists girlfriend Sophie, a police detective, to help locate the teens, but her new partner is working her own agenda. As the investigation intensifies, Tom unearths dark secrets about the people closest to him in his affluent neighborhood. The drama series was created by mystery novelist Harlan Coben.
Stranger Things
This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 — inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce’s 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.
The Ranch
Ashton Kutcher stars in this Netflix-original sitcom as Colt, who returns home to his family’s ranch in Colorado after his semi-pro football career ends in failure. Colt plans to run the ranching business with his father, Beau (Sam Elliott), whom he hasn’t seen in 15 years at the time of his homecoming. In addition to proving himself to his father and navigating family dynamics, Colt is torn between his current girlfriend and his high school sweetheart, Abby (Elisha Cuthbert), when she expresses doubts about her fiance.
Rectify
Rectify is an American television drama series exploring the life of a man after he is released from prison after nearly 20 years on death row following a wrongful conviction.
Jane The Virgin
The daughter of a teen mother, Jane Villanueva grew up determined not to repeat her mom’s mistakes. At 23, her life is on track; Jane is studying to be a teacher and engaged to a handsome detective who supports her decision to remain a virgin until marriage. Then a routine clinic visit flips her life upside down. Inseminated by a specimen meant for a patient in the next room, now-pregnant Jane is in a situation made only more insane when she learns that the sperm donor is her boss, Rafael. As her meticulously planned life gets more like the telenovelas she loves, she faces a lot of complicated decisions about where to go from here.
Call The Midwife
Adapted by Heidi Thomas from the best-selling memoirs of Jennifer Worth, this drama series is a moving, funny, colorful look at midwifery and family in 1950s East End London. It follows newly qualified midwife Jenny, who joins an eccentric, lovable community of nuns who are nurses at Nonnatus House. Jenny is surprised to find herself at a convent — she thought she was being sent to a small private hospital — and is initially daunted by her surroundings, most notably the formidable Sister Evangelina and the unconventional Sister Monica Joan. But Jenny gradually begins to find her way and develops incredible friendships among the nurses, as they are drawn into the lives and homes of the women and families they treat.
Russian Doll
Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne stars in this comedy-drama series as Nadia, a young woman who is on a journey to be the guest of honor at a party in New York City. But she gets caught in a mysterious loop as she repeatedly attends the same event and dies at the end of the night each time — only to awaken the next day unharmed as if nothing had happened. In addition to starring, Lyonne co-created the show with “Saturday Night Live” alum Amy Poehler and serves as a writer and director for the Netflix original series.
Unbelievable
When a teen reports being raped, then recants her story, two female detectives follow evidence that could reveal the truth; based on a true story.
The Politician
Wealthy high school student Payton Hobart has known since he was 7 years old that he is going to be the president of the United States. The first step toward that goal is to become his school’s student body president. To do that, he will have to navigate the treacherous political landscape of Saint Sebastian High School. Hobart feels he needs to win the election to secure his spot at Harvard and continue on his projected path to success. To achieve his goals, he’ll have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and — most importantly — carefully crafted public image.
Dead To Me
Jen’s husband recently died in a hit-and-run, and the sardonic widow is determined to solve the crime. Optimistic free spirit Judy has recently suffered a tragic loss of her own. The ladies meet at a support group and, despite their polar-opposite personalities, become unlikely friends. As the women bond over bottles of wine and a shared affinity for “The Facts of Life,” Judy tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it. The dark comedy — which explores the weirdly funny sides of grief, loss and forgiveness — features a cast that includes TV veterans Christina Applegate and Ed Asner.
Girlfriends Guide To Divorce
After Abby McCarthy, author of self-help books and guru to people with family issues, states that she and her husband have separated, her career screeches to a halt. The revelation puts America’s once-favorite girlfriend in free fall. Acclimating to being single in her 40s, she turns to friends for advice, including entrepreneur Phoebe, who has an odd relationship with her ex. For the divorce, Abby hires Delia, an associate of her friend, Lyla. The “Girlfriends’ Guide” book series inspired the dramedy — Bravo’s first original scripted series.
Oldies But Goodies!
Friends
Three young men and three young women — of the BFF kind — live in the same apartment complex and face life and love in New York. They’re not above sticking their noses into one another’s business and swapping romantic partners, which always leads to the kind of hilarity average people will never experience — especially during breakups.
The Office
This US adaptation, set at a paper company in Scranton, Pa., has a similar documentary style to that of the Ricky Gervais-led British original. It features the staff of Dunder-Mifflin, a staff that includes characters based on characters from the British show (and, quite possibly, people you work with in your office). There’s Jim, the likable employee who’s a bit of an everyman. Jim has a thing for receptionist-turned-sales rep Pam (because office romances are always a good idea). There’s also Dwight, the successful co-worker who lacks social skills and common sense. And there’s Ryan, who has held many jobs at the company.
Gilmore Girls
Set in a storybook Connecticut town populated by an eclectic mix of dreamers, artists and everyday folk, this multigenerational drama about family and friendship centres around Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory. Lorelai owns the town’s bed-and-breakfast, the Dragonfly Inn, with best friend/chef Sookie, and contends with weekly dinners with eccentric, well-off parents Richard and Emily Gilmore (who always have something to say about their daughter’s life). After high school, Rory attends Yale University but frequently returns to Stars Hollow to visit her mom.
Grey’s Anatomy
The medical drama series focuses on a group of young doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, who began their careers at the facility as interns. One of the young doctors and the show’s namesake, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon. Grey struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues, particularly the hospital’s one-time chief of surgery, Richard Webber, due to a pre-existing relationship between them – Webber and Meredith’s mother had a personal relationship when Meredith was young.
