We celebrated Teagan turning 7 years old this month! Some people think I go over the top for birthday parties for the kids but honestly, I love doing it. This year Teagan requested a JoJo Siwa birthday party, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone as she loves her, loves the bows and even got to see JoJo in concert this summer.
Planning a JoJo Siwa Birthday Party
Teagan’s birthday party is the party that we always struggle with in terms of finding the right venue. Being that she has an October birthday you never really know what the weather will be like here in Colorado so having an outdoor party just isn’t ideal. This year we learned about a local music academy and studio that sounded like it would be a perfect venue for her theme and for what she loves doing – dancing and singing.
GlobalSound Studio provided us a giant open room with a huge dance floor, a stage with 5 microphones for karaoke, a DJ, plus tables and space for food and visiting. It was absolutely perfect for a Teagan’s wish of a JoJo birthday party. While the owners of the studio were a bit afraid that a 7 year birthday party wasn’t an ideal age for a karaoke party it ended up being fantastic! Teagan never left the stage and her friends joined her in singing and dancing (and playing tag) on the dance floor.
The Cake – JoJo Siwa Style
I have always loved spending a little extra money on the cake. I feel like it is the perfect way to bring a little more fun to the party with a delicious themed cake. This year we reached out to our good friends at Cake Cake Hooray and had them create a perfect JoJo cake for Teagan.
This picture does not do this cake justice – the lighting in the venue was a bit hard to take pictures with. This chocolate cake topped with a giant pink sparkly bow and tons of sprinkles was the talk of the party – well until Teagan started singing. Not only was it delicious but the cake design fit what Teagan had been dreaming of.
The Entertainment – JoJo Siwa Style
One of the biggest issues with having an indoor party is figuring out what the kids will do to keep themselves busy during the party. At Globalsound Studio the main entertainment was karaoke for the kids. The stage was set up with 5 microphones and the kids got to sign up for the songs they wanted to sing with the help of the DJ.
While not every single kid did this, the dance floor and constant music gave those kids a chance to run, play and dance with their friends all while watching Teagan perform on stage! This little lady was quite the diva. It was so fun to watch the kids work together to sing their songs and have some fun performing.
I also brought some fun rock star sunglasses, inflatable microphones, glow sticks and necklaces for all of the kids to play with while they were dancing and singing. I thought it would give them all a little inspiration to get out there and dance and sing! This took place of the dreaded “what to give out to the guests” question. No more goodie bags, just fun props that the kids could take home with them.
I found Teagan’s adorable JoJo dress on Amazon. Not only did it fit great but it fit her party perfectly too.
The Decorations – JoJo Siwa Style
I bought all of the paper plates, napkins, silverware and tablecloths from Oriental Trading company. I found some great JoJo Siwa themed plates and napkins that added a little extra to the decorations. Due to this being at a venue I decided to keep the decorations simple and just added colorful tablecloths to the tables and Jeremy picked up some rainbow colored balloons.
In terms of our other birthday parties, this one was pretty low key when it came to decorations and themed food. But I loved that we were able to incorporate the JoJo theme in such a perfect venue!
One of JoJo Siwa’s songs is “Kid In A Candy Store” so I decided that another way to not have to worry about goodie bags was to create a little mini candy buffet for the guest to enjoy while at the party but also I provided small treat bags for them to fill up with candy as they left. It was a perfect addition to the party and added to the theme too.
Teagan’s 7th birthday party was a hit and the moment she walked out of the party she said she wanted to have her 8th birthday party there again. It was so fun to see the kids laugh, dance and sing together. While we didn’t go super crazy with themed items it was fun to add just a few JoJo Siwa specific touches to the party to pull it all together. I think I totally pulled off this fun JoJo Party per Teagan’s request!!
What party theme does your child want for their birthday party this year?
