Hyatt Place Peña Station/Denver Airport recently opened its doors in early November and features unexpected, experiential elements including a curated, Colorado-centric art program, lively bar showcasing top local beer, wine and spirits, a resident Golden Retriever puppy named Denver, greeting guests at check-in, and an ultra-convenient location just one stop away from Denver International Airport (DIA) on the RTD A-line train.
Disclosure- I was provided a complimentary stay, including food and drinks, in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
Reset & Relax at the NEW Hyatt Place Peña Station/Denver Airport
Last weekend I had the opportunity to take a little break in a brand new hotel just minutes from the growing area near the Denver Airport. When I heard about this opportunity I was thrilled because one of my 37 Things To Do In My 37th Year was to go on vacation alone. Now, while some would never think that one night in a local hotel is a vacation, for me it is – especially when I need to stick to a budget. If you are a parent, I think you can relate that just a few hours away from your home and family can bring you an instant reset. The Hyatt Place knows how important it is to feel relaxed while at their hotel.
Design and Decor
From the moment I walked into the Hyatt Place I was in love with the decor and design. Not only was is super clean and updated but the decor was something I would want in my own home. So creative. If you were following along with my Instagram Stories you saw all of the amazing art through out the hotel but my very favorite decor design was the front desk.
A side note about the front desk; all of the staff that I met were fantastic. They were helpful and ready to give me assistance if needed. My overall experience at the Hyatt Place was positive on every level and interaction.
Walking to my room I was inspired by this view as well. Because this hotel is considered an airport hotel I was expecting to walk into a bland hotel that was made for those fast visits but the Hyatt Place is not that! This is a space you can stay in for one night or multiple nights and feel right at home.
The Rooms – Instant Reset!
I was in a King Bed (with sofa pull-out) room on the 5th floor for my stay. I loved the bed, so comfortable but especially liked the divided space in this room. It was spacious and really comfortable. I found this space to be perfect for relaxing but also for getting some work done. I had a great balance of needing to complete a few work items and also laying around getting some reading done. It was perfect! I am ready to go back. Just like the decor in the lobby and hallways I felt like the art and feeling was modern and super creative.
There are also two queen beds (with sofa bed pull-out) rooms and even two suites that I am sure are the ultimate space for comfort and relaxing! Great options for any size group or situation. All of the rooms have the divided space for the extra sitting area.
Room Features:
- Flat-screen TV
- Individually-controlled heat and air conditioning
- Blackout curtains
- Hair dryer
- KenetMD toiletries
- Minifridge
- Iron and ironing board
- In-room safe
- Rollaway upon request
- Crib upon request
I told you that the staff was fantastic, well it’s true! I was sent this beautiful tray of fresh fruit and nuts. It was a great way to start my time away. It is clear that the staff wants to go above and beyond to make sure their guests are happy and taken care of.
Food and Drinks – Treat Yourself!
For my staycation I wanted to stay at the hotel and take advantage of the great Bar and food located onsite. I highly recommend heading down to the bar before sunset and enjoying your drink as you watch the amazing sunset views. It was a perfect way to enjoy the space and wind down. The bar was a great place for me to enjoy my cocktail but also order food. The bar has local craft beers, premium wines and cocktails for guests to enjoy.
For dinner I was torn. So many options of delicious foods to choose from. I ultimately decided on the Chicken and Brie Club with Parmesan Fries!! They had me at Brie!! As I sat there talking with other guests and seeing what food they enjoyed it was clear that there was no wrong choice for food! Just like the decor – I felt like the menu was creative and gave a great Colorado twist to the meal choices.
The Hyatt Place has you covered for breakfast too! Breakfast is by far my very favorite meal of the day so I am always excited for breakfast when traveling! The Breakfast Bar has a hot breakfast available daily in the Gallery Kitchen which features a variety of breakfast items, including cage-free eggs, all-natural bacon and sausage, fresh-cut fruit, steel cut oatmeal, Greek yogurt, artisanal breads, and more! Delicious!
Meet Denver – the Ambassadog
Okay, I know you have been wondering about Denver! Denver is The Hyatt Place’s Ambassadog! He is a great welcoming dog that loves saying hello to the guests. He probably wins “Employee of the Month” every month because this guy works for his stay! Not only is he adorable he is a really great dog.
It was so fun to see adults and kids super excited to pet and love on Denver and he loved it just as much!

Can’t say I’m a big fan of that big bull but, other than that, the place looks welcoming and updated. I’d stay there. Love that they have a resident dog.
