Even though we cannot gather together in one space, doesn’t mean we don’t need a little time with our friends. During this time of social distancing I find wanting that connection with my girlfriends even more. Here are some great ideas for a virtual girls night. All of these ideas will allow you to laugh, connect and have fun – which is something we all need right now.
Ideas For A Virtual Girls Night
When planning a virtual game night make sure you prepare your friends for what will be played. There are so many games that can be played via Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts. Some examples would be Beer Pong, Never Have I Ever, Trivia, Cards Against Humanity, Mad Libs or even Pictionary. No matter what you decide to play, the connection in between games and turns will be a great distraction for this whole social distancing thing we are dealing with.
Painting And Sipping
This is another virtual gathering idea that will take some planning but is sure to be a fun experience. Gather some paint, paint brushes and a canvas and find a painting video for everyone to paint together. Poor your wine and follow the instructions. Make it a goal to meet up with your finished paintings at the end of this social distancing order and take a picture of your masterpieces you all created while on a virtual painting and sipping girls night!
Cooking or Baking Together
Have one of your girlfriends come up with a recipe for everyone to make together while on your virtual meetup. Think easy, but delicious!! Because shopping for groceries can be difficult right now, a simple recipe would be ideal. Cupcakes, cookies, stir fry or soups. No matter what the recipe, it will be fun to see everyone cooking and eating together!
Pick a book and set a date to discuss the book with drinks on Zoom! Book club doesn’t have to be cancelled! Use this meet up as some motivation to pick up a book or two during this crazy time. When picking a book think about the time we are in right now – light and fun is key!
Support A Small Business
Many of your lady friends are also business owners. Instead of meeting up at someones house for a party with Pampered Chef, Pure Romance or Perfectly Posh you can easily schedule a party online! Not only does this give you and your girls something to do but you can support another woman in her small business efforts! LOVE THAT!!
Go To The Club
Okay, no don’t ACTUALLY go to the club but pretend that you are “in the club!” Get dressed up – yes, real clothes and make-up, create a playlist, change the background on your Zoom meet up to the club and let loose! Dancing and singing at the top of your lungs is absolutely required. Best part…you don’t have to drive home afterwards…just dance off to bed!
Missing those brunch moments with friends? Order in and meet up! So many restaurants are offering brunch and breakfast meal options that can be picked up or delivered. What a fun way to start your morning with your friends or family over a yummy brunch.
All of the “happy hours” I have had recently includes us all asking what we have watched on Netflix lately. So, when a new series comes out instead of watching it all alone, sign in and host a watch party with your besties!! Find some snacks and snuggle up n the couch.
We already know you will be drinking during this fun virtual girls night so why not create some cocktails together. Have everyone look through their liquor cabinets and help each other create a new “Social Distancing Cocktail”! Who knows, these cocktails could be your next favorite drink when you get to meet up at the bar in a few months!!
Okay, maybe it is time to put down the drinks, snacks and get off of the couch!! We cannot go to the gym for our workouts but we can do them at home. Find a streaming video to share with your girls and begin a workout together! Sure, it sounds painful at first but you will feel accomplished once you complete your workout together!
Don’t over think a Virtual Girls Night, sometimes you just need to schedule a Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts and sit down, chat and catch up with your girlfriends. I would have never thought that sitting in front of my computer screen for 3 hours with friends would be therapeutic but it really is.
What Virtual meetups have you enjoyed during social distancing with your friends and family?
