Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, mostly because fall is my favorite season!  But for other reasons as well, the fun events, traditions, decorations and costumes!  Both of my kids are a bit sensitive to scary things around Halloween time so we have to be extra careful with our costumes and decorations.  I decided to try something new for this year.  Sure, these are a little spooky but mostly fun!

We have a few large bushes in our front yard that I will be adding these fun but spooky eye lights to for some creative and fun Halloween decorations.  This Halloween DIY is super easy and really fun for the whole family to get involved with.

Spooky Eyes – Halloween Outdoor Decorations

Materials Needed:

Push On/Off Round Closet Lights
Colored Sharpie Markers
Batteries

Instructions:

1.  Plan what type of eyes you will be creating.  We went with a typical eye shape with an added “Blood Shot” look.

2.  Start with the pupils of the eyes, color in with multiple colors of sharpies to all for more colored light to shine through.

3.  Let marker dry completely before adding batteries to the closet lights.

4.  Place eyes into bushes outside.  No need to secure them, just place them in the bushes.

Optional – you could also set these eyes on the windowsills inside to show through the windows.

5.  Turn on lights at night, remember to turn them off before heading to bed.

Talk about easy!! Because these are battery operated you can literally put these eyes anywhere in the yard and not have to worry about finding a plug! I cannot wait to add a few more spooky eyes to the bushes out front.  I think it will be great for our Trick or Treaters on Halloween too!  Our bushes look like little monsters now.  Love it!

How do you decorate your front lawn for Halloween without being too scary for kids?

LOVE THESE!! I will have to show these to my daughter – she absolutely LOVES Halloween. This is a great afternoon activity for my kiddos to complete to begin decorations for Halloween – my kids create a spooky graveyard in my front lawn! It's hilarious!

This is so cool. You're so creative. My girls will like this. The hubby just mentioned Halloween while I was reading through this. He'll come home to this soon! Haha.

Wow that is such a cool idea and it seems so simple. That is one of those things that makes you think, why didn't I think of that! I love it and have to try this one out at my house, my daughter would enjoy it for sure.

I can't believe how easy those are to make! Very clever, and just spooky enough to add some fun to your bushes without being terrifying for kids who are sensitive to scary things. My son went through a phase where he was terrified of Halloween decorations, so I was always careful with what we used to decorate.

Isn't Halloween simply the best? All of the googly eyes everywhere from cupcakes, to decorations in the yard. Love this idea. I'll have to tell my neighbor about it. She has 5 kids under the age of 12 and they're house always looks to festive! x
