Keeping up with goals is important and this year I made sure that my reading goal was attainable. In doing so, I believe it has helped me stick with a more consistent reading schedule. I have always loved reading but after having kids it seems like my reading time was taken away. So far in 2018 I have read 5 books…right in line with my goal of 12 books in 2018. I have said it before and will say it again, I know that 12 books in one year is NOTHING for some but hey, we all have to have goals right?! For my 5th book read of 2018 I went for a book from the Stephanie Plum novels, Ten Big Ones. I have loved the Stephanie Plum books for years and have read nine of them so far. The Stephanie Plum books are all about the famous bounty hunter in Jersey named Stephanie Plum.
Ten Big Ones – A Stephanie Plum Novel by Janet Evanovich
“I’m Stephanie Plum. My mother says that I’m famous and have to set a good example. She’s right, but I’m from Jersey and truth is, I have a hard time getting a grip on the good example thing.”
Swing off the Jersey Turnpike and you’ll be in bounty hunter Stephanie Plum’s neighborhood. You’ll know it because all hell will be breaking loose. Not that she looks for trouble – it just seems to follow her. In Ten Big Ones it explodes at a deli, and when Stephanie pegs a robber as a member of a vicious Trenton gang, they peg her as dead. Vice cop Joe Morelli fears she’s in way too deep – even with the help of crime-solving, cross-dressing, bus driver Sally Sweet, and Stephanie’s friend Lula riding shotgun as backup. With a notorious killer on her tail, Stephanie figures the best hideout is Ranger’s secret lair…
My Review of Ten Big Ones
I have been reading the Stephanie Plum novels for years so I have a special love for Stephanie. She makes me laugh out loud when I am reading and I secretly (or not secretly) love her bounty hunter, cop loving, mystery man lusting, Jersey girl living life! This is the 10th book of the Stephanie Plum book series so there is some great character development this far into the series.
This particular glimpse into Stephanie’s daily adventures includes breaking into Ranger’s apartment! I have to be honest, I really wanted him to find her and surprise her. I do believe that every book in this series is just getting better and better. I love Stephanie! But I especially love how strong she is both physically and mentally but also in her personal life. She doesn’t let any of the men tell her what to do – she does what is good for HER! LOVE THAT!!
I would recommend any of the Stephanie Plum books to anyone wanting some fun and light reading this summer. While this is a chic lit book series it does have a bit of a mystery to it with a side of comedy. I was first recommended these books when Jeremy was having long surgeries, my friend told me that these books helped her get through hospital stays with her daughter as well. I couldn’t agree more – Janet Evanovich is such a great writer and I absolutely love her light literature style.
