Slow Cooker Easy Black Bean Soup is a favorite for me since it is a zero point recipe on WW FreeStyle.  Simple ingredients make this a fast meal to throw together, and it soon becomes a favorite for everyone in the house.

Slow Cooker Easy Black Bean Soup

Using my slow cooker to make mealtime easy is a must.  I love the 6-quart programmable slow cooker since I can set times and temperatures on it for easy meals.  This recipe is ideal since I can grab all of the ingredients from the pantry and toss them together for a fast and easy meal. 

For those who are following the WW FreeStyle Plan, this is a Zero SmartPoint recipe!  That means you can enjoy this with zero guilt!  

How to Serve Zero Point Soup

Since this is a zero point recipe, you can serve it with your favorite cornbread on the side. You could go a different direction and top this soup with a bit of shredded cheese and your favorite tortilla strips or chips.  
 

Ingredients for Easy Black Bean Soup

  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 2 cans, 15.25 oz each, black beans (do not drain or rinse)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • chopped fresh cilantro, optional
 

How to Make Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

1.Add onion, celery, beans, broth, and spices to a slow cooker. Mix well.
 
2. Heat on low for 7-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
 
3. When ready to eat, mash beans with a potato masher.
 
4. Serve topped with fresh cilantro, if desired. 
 
Serves 4-6
