The 2021 reading bug has hit and I am loving it. While this is my second book review I am sharing with you for 2021, as of this moment I have started my 5th – yes, you read that right – 5th book!! For my second book of 2021 I picked up another second book of a series I enjoyed in 2020. The Love & Gelato book one was a book I devoured while on vacation at a lake house. It was the perfect book for that setting.
The second book in this series is called Love & Luck. Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch was a great read, just like the first book of this series, Love & Gelato.
Book 2 Read In 2021
Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
Addie is visiting Ireland for her aunt’s over-the-top destination wedding and hoping she can stop thinking about the one horrible thing that left her miserable and heartbroken—and threatens her future. But her brother, Ian, isn’t about to let her forget, and his constant needling leads to arguments and even a fistfight between the two once-inseparable siblings.
But when Addie discovers an unusual guidebook, Ireland for the Heartbroken, hidden in the dusty shelves of the hotel library, she’s finally able to escape her anxious mind—and Ian’s criticism. And then their travel plans change. Suddenly Addie finds herself on a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle, trapped in the world’s smallest vehicle with Ian and his admittedly cute Irish-accented friend Rowan. As the trio journeys over breathtaking green hills, past countless castles, and through a number of fairy-tale forests, Addie hopes her guidebook will heal not only her broken heart, but also her shattered relationship with her brother.
That is, if they don’t get completely lost along the way.
My Review of Love & Luck
Once again, I was super surprised at how I was completely pulled into this book. Just like Love & Gelato it was all about travel…I sure do miss that and like I said before, maybe that is why I enjoyed reading it so much. It was a great escape.
While this book did tie in some characters from the first book, they were not the main characters. I really enjoy this type of series. You get to meet new characters but get caught up on how some of the other characters from the previous book are doing. Just like Love & Gelato I believe this book is geared more towards the young adult reader. I for one really enjoy young adult books so I do not mind. Hard to call this chic lit as it is pretty PG.
I did enjoy the silliness of the sibling unit in the book and can imagine myself with my brother at that age. I felt like that was a great piece of the book. In addition to the sibling drama I did enjoy seeing Ian show his true calling – writing. His passion and his drive was clear. Something I hope my kids find at that age.
While I enjoyed Love & Luck, I do think that Love & Gelato is the better of the two. I cannot wait to read book 3 of this series and see what the author shares with us!
