Comfort In Style With Stitch Fix – My January Fix
Giving Athleisure A Try With Stitch Fix
I am not sure why I haven’t asked for Athleisure specific items in the past…especially since I have been working from home for over three years now. Maybe you are wondering what Athleisure is in the fashion world…well here is the definition.
Athleisure is a type of hybrid clothing that is a fabricated style of clothing typically worn during athletic activities and in other settings, such as at the workplace, at school, or at other casual or social occasions. Athleisure outfits can include yoga pants, tights, sneakers, leggings and shorts that “look like athletic wear”, characterized as “fashionable, dressed up sweats and exercise clothing”. The idea is that gym clothes are supposedly making their way out of the gym and becoming a larger part of people’s everyday wardrobes.
Basically, I wanted to add a few items to my daily wardrobe that aren’t my normal PJs or Gym attire but still comfortable but not frumpy! Again, I am not sure why I haven’t asked for these items before! I think my stylist really helped me get an idea of the type of Athleisure I am in to. But in true COVID budget form, I couldn’t have it all…but it sure was a fun box to get!
Item One – Market & Spruce Lounge Relaxed Split Neck Hooded Top
When I first opened my fix, this was the first thing I was super excited to try. This top was a neutral off-white, so soft and light weight for those days at home. In a size 1x it fit great…not frumpy but the one thing that really stuck out to me was the wrinkles. SO MANY WRINKLES! I felt like it looked like I slept in the shirt before wearing it out. This top retailed at $58.00 and I felt like that was a bit pricey for a top.
Verdict – SENT BACK!
Item Two – Democracy Ruth Ponte Legging
I love leggings but leggings must HOLD ME IN if I am going to wear them out of the house. These did just that and they even had some fun details on the sides and had a fun “print” in the black. These are not considered an Athleisure item but they were super comfortable. In a size 1x I believe they fit nicely and were a great flattering black. Now comes the BUT…they were $68.00! I couldn’t do it…like I said, I love a good legging that flatters but that was way out of my budget for the month.
Verdict – SENT BACK!
Item Three – Laila Jayde Cowl Neck Pullover Knit Top
Talk about a super flattering top! This top was pretty light weight and had the cowl neck. Sometimes I like the cowl but this one sit too high. Now, I am not against wild prints but the animal print was not favorite for this top. In a size 1x I feel like it fit great and was exactly what I would expect Athleisure to be – comfortable but something you can run to the store in and feel put together. This top was $58.00.
Verdict – SENT BACK!
Item Four – T4T Ani Drawstring Jogger Pant
Okay, I love the jogger look but never tried a pair on. So, when I saw these high rise drawstring joggers in my fix I was so excited to give them a go. These joggers are really soft and comfortable. In a size 1x they fit great and that high waist is really flattering too. Something I was worried about if I was going to jump into the jogger world. These retailed at $44.00 and were a great black that means they will literally go with anything. I see these as Sunday brunch or Wednesday Wine Night at home.
Verdict – KEPT!
Item Five – Leo & Nicole Zaryn Cotton Blend Poncho Pullover
I love this grey color and the poncho look screams cozy winter to me. I do feel like this was a weird shape for me but over all it fit great in a 1x. This material was not the comfortable athleisure theme I was hoping for however. It seemed stiff and rough. For $68.00 I knew it would have to be something I loved but it just didn’t cut it.
Verdict – SENT BACK!
Well, there you have it. My first Athleisure experience with Stitch Fix. I have a feeling it will not be my last. This was a super fun fix and I am really excited to continue my fashion shopping this way. So easy and helps me get out of my normal fashion habits.
